Miscreants opened fire at the house of a grocery trader late Thursday night in the Mamdot town of Firozpur district, Punjab.

Bike-borne masked youths fired shots at the main gate of Munish Chopra's residence.

Extortion demands and security deployment

Munish Chopra had earlier received extortion demands of lakhs of rupees from foreign phone numbers. A government gunman was already deployed for the family's security.

Previous attack and ongoing probe

Previously on 18 October, five rounds of firing had taken place at the same house. Following the latest incident, an investigation is underway to identify the attackers and determine the reasons for the security guard's failure to retaliate.
