The Krittivas Ramayana was composed in the 15th century by the poet Krittivas Ojha in the Bengali language. This text features descriptions of several major episodes related to Lord Rama and the Lanka war.
Worship and the death of Ravana
According to mythological accounts, Lord Rama worshipped Goddess Maheshwari during the Lanka war upon the instructions of Lord Brahma. Meanwhile, Vibhishan informed Lord Rama that Ravana would meet his death when the Brahmastra penetrated his navel.
The text also mentions other events, under which Hanuman disguised himself as an elderly brahmin and entered Mandodari's inner chambers. Additionally, Vibhishan's son Tararsen attained martyrdom in battle against Lord Rama.
Other mythological events and historical context
In another episode, Lakshmana used his bow to displace three stones of the bridge, breaking it and creating a path of ten yojanas. However, there is no independent proof of the historical truth of the events described in these mythological tales.
