A criminal defamation complaint has been registered against Bageshwar Dham Peethadhishwar Pandit Dhirendra Shastri in the Agra Civil Court in Uttar Pradesh. The case was registered on November 6, 2026.

Details of the complaint

The complaint was filed by lawyer Ajay Pratap Singh. According to the complaint, this legal step was taken because Dhirendra Shastri allegedly described Lord Krishna as 'crooked' and compared him to Lord Rama.

Apology and upcoming hearing

Following the escalation of the controversy, Dhirendra Shastri had earlier issued an apology with folded hands. The next hearing in the case will take place on December 14 in the court of Judge Kanchan Kumari.
