Political stir has intensified following a controversial statement on Ram and Krishna by Bageshwar Dham Peethadheeshwar Dhirendra Shastri. While the statement has drawn opposition from seers and saints, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has taken an aggressive stance on the matter.

Akhilesh Yadav expressed a sharp reaction to Dhirendra Shastri's statement. Amidst this entire controversy, however, the BJP and its spokespersons have maintained silence.

Public apology and political statements

Following the escalation of the controversy, Dhirendra Shastri has publicly apologized for the matter.

Meanwhile, continuing his political statements, Akhilesh Yadav hinted at not contesting the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. At the same time, he also challenged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to contest the elections from Ayodhya.
