According to fresh data from the National Crime Records Bureau, nearly 1,489 firecracker-related accidents were recorded across India between 2014 and 2023. Over these ten years, these accidents resulted in a total of 1,469 deaths and left 571 people injured.

NCRB records indicate that in the year 2023 alone, accidents related to firecrackers caused 169 deaths.

Meanwhile, in the national capital of Delhi, approximately 270 burn cases linked to firecrackers were reported during the 2025 Diwali period. Additionally, a total of 281 fire-related incidents were recorded in Delhi during this timeframe.
