Following the legislative council elections in Bihar, two independent MLCs have joined the BJP. On October 31, 2026, Banshidhar Brajwasi and Rahul Raj formally took membership of the BJP.

Victory over JDU candidates

Banshidhar Brajwasi had secured victory as an independent candidate from the Tirhut graduates constituency. In this election, he defeated JDU candidate Abhishek Jha.

Meanwhile, Rahul Raj won the Saran teachers constituency election as an independent. He had defeated JDU candidate Anand Pushkar.

Increase in BJP tally

Following the joining of these two leaders, the total number of BJP seats in the legislative council has increased to four.
