A Panama-flagged oil tanker, MT Louis 1, was attacked on Friday in the Strait of Hormuz. The incident occurred approximately 46 kilometres away from Khasab city in Oman.

Attack details and damage

According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations, two limpet mines were attached to the vessel. The attack caused a fire in the engine room, and the ship was temporarily halted.

Safety of Indian crew members

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stated that 27 Indian crew members were on board the tanker. All the sailors are completely safe and no one has sustained any injuries.
