Police have uncovered a major illegal liquor smuggling syndicate in the murder case of Khategaon TI Dilip Puri. The truck that ran over the TI was carrying a consignment of illegal liquor to Gujarat.
Syndicate operations and profit margins
Investigations revealed that the licenses for three licensed liquor shops in Timarni were in the name of Patendra Jaiswal, but the business was operated by four partners together. The main operator of the syndicate was Rahul Jaiswal, who managed the stock, decided supply routes, and kept all the accounts.
In this illegal business, Rahul, Manish, and Mohin Jaiswal each received a 30 percent share, while Patendra Jaiswal was given a 10 percent share. The truck intercepted in Khategaon was loaded with about 1,400 cases of liquor, which was to be transported to Gujarat via Dewas.
Delivering this consignment of liquor to Gujarat yielded a profit of 8 to 10 lakh rupees per truck. According to DGP Upendra Jain, the entire network of this liquor smuggling operation has been identified.
Police action and official suspensions
Under the action taken, 13 accused have been taken into custody, and the licenses of all three liquor shops have been suspended and the shops sealed. In addition, Harda Assistant District Excise Officer Amarsingh Baghel and two constables have also been suspended.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced a sub-inspector post for the wife of the slain TI and financial assistance of 1 crore rupees for the family.
