A tragic incident occurred on the Indore-Betul highway in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, while police were attempting to stop illegal liquor smuggling. During checking, an Eicher vehicle laden with illegal liquor ran over Khategaon station in-charge Dilip Puri, causing his death on the spot. The incident took place on November 2, 2026.

Accused driver flees the spot

Following the incident, the accused driver abandoned the vehicle in the Sandalpur area and fled from the spot. Police are currently searching for the driver.

Police investigate the incident

Upon receiving information about the incident, Dewas SP Aditya Mishra immediately reached Khategaon and took stock of the situation. Police are investigating the matter.
