A controversy has emerged involving the electricity department office in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh. On the day of Dhanteras, liquor was allegedly distributed as a Diwali gift inside the department office.

Congress complaint and police action

Congress recorded a video of liquor bottles found inside the electricity department office and lodged a complaint at the police station. Following the complaint, police reached the spot and seized the liquor bottles for investigation.

Regarding the entire sequence of events, Executive Engineer S. K. Kindo flatly denied having any knowledge of liquor bottles being present in the office. However, police took the Executive Engineer to the Kotwali police station for questioning.

Official denial and ongoing investigation

At present, it has not been clarified for what purpose and by whom the liquor bottles were kept in the office. Police stated that actual facts related to the sources and distribution of the liquor are being investigated.
