Anant Singh arrived in Varanasi on Friday at around 5 pm with a convoy of 400 vehicles. Citing traffic and crowd concerns, the police stopped the convoy in the Dafi area on the outskirts of the city.

The administration had granted permission for only five vehicles to proceed towards BHU, a condition that Anant Singh rejected.

Court orders and personal events

The Supreme Court has ordered Anant Singh to surrender on or before December 4, 2026. The wedding of Anant Singh's younger daughter, Shivangi, is scheduled for November 25.

Political background

The Janata Dal United expelled Anant Singh from the party for six years on October 24. This followed the death of Dularchand Yadav during election campaign violence in Mokama.
