The Election Commission has granted an opportunity to voters left out during the SIR process in Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Nagaland to add their names back.
This special opportunity is meant for voters who had been placed in the absent, shifted, dead and duplicate categories.
Delhi voter list statistics
In Delhi, there were about 1.45 crore voters before the SIR, while roughly 97.53 lakh names were included in the draft voter list released on August 31.
During this process, around 47.57 lakh names were left out of the draft list, prompting the Supreme Court to question the haste on October 29.
Exemption in Form-6 details
The commission has clarified that to re-add a name after it was removed in the SIR, applicants will not need to provide 2003 voter list details in Form-6.
However, people who were never on the voter list previously will not receive the benefit of this process.
