The main accused in the Guwahati hotel shooting, Ghankant Gogoi, died in a police encounter in Assam's Sivasagar district on Wednesday. Gogoi faced serious allegations of shooting and killing five people at a hotel on October 26.

According to police, during the incident, the accused Ghankant Gogoi attempted to snatch the pistol of Sub-Inspector Debashish Sharma. He was injured in the subsequent police action.

Police were taking him to the hospital in an injured condition, but he died on the way. Those killed in the shooting incident included Bhudev Bharali, Narayan Das, Helena Bharali, Debarshi Kashyap and Rinika Kashyap.

Hotel lease details

Notably, the lease agreement for the hotel related to this case was executed on September 10, 2025, with a fixed monthly rent of 1.8 lakh rupees.
