The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation is preparing to issue independent property IDs to owners of different floors in commercial buildings. This proposal will be presented in the upcoming general house meeting of the corporation.

Consent and clearance of dues required

According to Special Commissioner Jaspreet Singh Sudan, an undertaking of consent from all stakeholders will be taken to avoid future disputes.

To get a separate property ID created, the applicant will have to deposit the pending arrears of their share.

Prior residential relief and tax collection

Notably, the corporation had given relief in the rules for creating separate IDs for different floors of residential properties on October 28. During the rebate period in April and May this year, property tax of Rs 37.21 crore was collected from commercial properties.
