The Chandigarh administration has amended the recruitment rules for warders in the jail department. Under this amendment, ex-Agniveers will now receive the benefit of reservation in recruitment.

The Home Department made this decision on 27 October.

Age relaxations and priorities

According to the revised rules, ex-Agniveers will be granted a three-year relaxation in the upper age limit. Meanwhile, candidates from the first batch of the Agniveer scheme will receive a five-year age relaxation.

Priority for the reserved posts will first be given to ex-Agniveers who are native residents of Chandigarh UT. If seats remain vacant, ex-Agniveers who are native residents of Punjab and Haryana will be given an opportunity to fill these positions.
