A total of 319 posts have been abolished in the health department of Chandigarh due to a failure to conduct timely regular recruitment processes. According to government rules, if any post remains vacant for three consecutive years, it is considered lapsed.

Lapsed posts in GMCH-32 and GMSH-16

A total of 129 posts have lapsed at the GMCH-32 hospital. These include 34 posts at the faculty and professor level, including the director and registrar, along with 93 posts for nursing and paramedical staff.

Meanwhile, a total of 190 posts have been terminated at GMSH-16, which include 59 posts for nursing officers. However, the proposal to restore these 190 posts at GMSH-16 has received approval from the finance department.

Allegations by employees

In the meantime, employees have alleged that files regarding regular recruitment were kept pending in order to bring favored officers on deputation, which led to the lapsing of these posts.
