The Special Investigation Unit of Solan district police recovered 197 boxes of illicit country liquor from a Mahindra pickup during a blockade in the Dharampur area on the intervening night of October 28 and 29.

Seizure details and registration of case

Police seized a total of 2,375 half-bottles and 4,900 quarter-bottles bearing the Patiala Santra brand from the pickup. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against 37-year-old Pawan Kumar in connection with the matter. The accused is a resident of village Barodya in Baddi tehsil.

During the operation, police took the vehicle and the liquor into custody. Additionally, the accused has been issued a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
