The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has removed an awareness video featuring actress Dia Mirza appealing against bursting crackers on Diwali from its social media pages. The step came after Mumbai BJP President Amit Satam raised objections to the video on social media.

Objection raised by BJP

Dia Mirza stated in an interview with ANI that the video was created in public interest under the directives of the Bombay High Court. In compliance with the Bombay High Court directives, the BMC has prohibited the bursting of crackers in public places.

Reactions from political parties

Meanwhile, the BMC has retained videos of Madhuri Dixit and Ajinkya Rahane on its social media handles. On the other hand, Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS have criticized this decision by the BMC.
