A Mohali court has delivered its verdict in a case involving the snatching of a mobile phone near the ITI Chowk in Lalru Mandi on April 25, 2023. The court acquitted the two accused, Bodhraj and Vishal, citing a lack of evidence.

The Lalru police had registered a case against both accused on April 26, 2023. During the court proceedings, the complainants, Seema Devi and her son Shaurya Kumar, refused to identify the accused.

Trial proceedings and allegations

The court acquitted the accused of charges under sections 379-B and 411 of the IPC, and section 181 of the Motor Vehicles Act. During the hearing, complainant Seema Devi alleged that the police had made her sign blank papers.

Additionally, the bill for the recovered mobile phone in the case was in the name of Lalan Kumar, and ownership could not be established.
