A powerful blast occurred due to a leakage in a PNG gas pipeline in the Gobarsahi-Dumri area under the Sadar police station limits in Muzaffarpur on Monday at around 12 noon. The incident resulted in the death of one youth, whose body was confirmed to have been found.

The sound of the blast was so loud that it was heard up to three kilometres away. A four-storey building was severely damaged in the accident.

Impact and damage to surrounding properties

The impact of the explosion shattered windowpanes of several houses built within a 100-metre radius. According to local residents, a JCB was operating near the pipeline at the time of the incident.

More than 10 people are reported injured in the accident. Additionally, dozens of houses and several vehicles are claimed to have suffered damage.
