The Punjab government announced on November 4, 2026, a three percent increase in the dearness allowance for its government employees and pensioners. The decision was taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Benefit for 8 lakh employees

Following this increase, the dearness allowance for employees has risen to 53 percent. This government step will directly benefit around 8 lakh employees and pensioners in the state.

According to officials, this total increase will provide a financial benefit of 363 crore rupees to the employees and pensioners.

December payout

The state government has clarified that this increased dearness allowance will be included in the salary and pension for the month of December.
