Selected candidates under the fellowship program run by the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund receive a monthly stipend of one lakh rupees. The total duration of this fellowship is set at two years.

Financial assistance and eligibility

An additional amount of 75 thousand rupees is provided annually under the fellowship for travel and research expenses. There is no age limit prescribed for this scheme, but only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.

History and background

This fellowship program was launched in the year 1968. A total of 155 fellowships have been awarded since 1968, and it was extended to PhD studies starting from 1987.
