People across Punjab are celebrating the festivals of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas.

Golden temple illuminated

The historical Golden Temple in Amritsar has been specially decorated for the occasion, with a scheduled program to light one lakh earthen lamps and conduct fireworks.

According to Pandit Rohit Shastri of Dandi Swami Temple in Ludhiana, a special auspicious muhurat for Lakshmi worship is set from 5:55 PM to 7:50 PM due to a special alignment of the Swati nakshatra.

Fire incident in Jalandhar

Amid the celebrations, an incident of fire was reported from a firecracker shop located in a market in Jalandhar late at night.

No official figures or reports regarding the extent of damage caused by this fire have been released so far.
