Political demand for the establishment of an IIT in Haryana has intensified between Kurukshetra and Hisar. The tug-of-war began following reports that the state has received a total of 27 institutions over the past 20 years.
Arguments in support of Hisar
Several leaders have put forward arguments in support of Hisar. According to former finance minister Sampat Singh, thousands of acres of government land, including the Government Livestock Farm, are available in Hisar. Additionally, Savitri Jindal raised the issue before the central government regarding the lack of a major central project in Hisar.
Minister of State Ranbir Gangwa has also openly supported Hisar's claim before Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. However, it is not officially clear which of the two locations will be chosen and whether the government land in Hisar will be allocated for this project.
