OpenAI announced on Friday that strict restrictions will be imposed on practical information related to weapons and security systems on ChatGPT. Under the company's new rules, the chatbot will automatically end a chat session in cases of continuous violence or harmful statements.

Additionally, repeated violent statements will result in the user's account being temporarily suspended. Detailed information about past massacres and the types of weapons used in them has also been prohibited.

Teen usage and safety concerns

According to OpenAI's report, teenage users spend an average of less than 15 minutes a day on ChatGPT. Meanwhile, a report by Common Sense Media had revealed that the teen version of ChatGPT failed to send timely alerts to parents during discussions such as suicide or self-harm.

According to the company, these new safety features will be rolled out in a phased manner over the next few weeks.
