Entry of devotees into the Gupt Godavari caves in Chitrakoot was restricted in September 2026 due to heavy rainfall and falling rocks. During this natural incident, a panchamukhi shivling inside the caves was also damaged.

Safety works and geological investigation

Devotees will be permitted to re-enter the caves only after the completion of geological investigations and safety works.
