Ahead of Diwali, the nagar palika has set up around 145 shops for the firecracker market at Gandhi Park and Husain Tekri. Instead of awarding a contract for the firecracker market this time, the nagar palika itself allotted the shops and issued receipts.
Fees of Rs 2,500 per shop were collected from approximately 130 shopkeepers at Gandhi Park, while Rs 6,000 was collected for about 15 shops at Husain Tekri. However, the Gandhi Park market lacks proper arrangements of water and sand near the shops for initial fire safety.
Lack of water and sand arrangements
From a safety perspective, the nagar palika has stationed fire brigade vehicles in both markets. Additionally, shopkeepers are facing difficulties due to inadequate lighting and cleanliness during the night at Gandhi Park.
Assurance given by authorities
Nagar palika RI Arun Kumar Tyagi has assured efforts to address the problems of the shopkeepers and eliminate these shortcomings in the arrangements.
